IPTV EPG Explained: How the TV Guide Works

The IPTV EPG is the TV guide in your player. EPG stands for Electronic Programme Guide. It is the schedule grid that shows what is on now and next, like the guide on a cable box.

How the guide works

Your player app loads a list of channels and then a separate file of schedule data that matches the channels by ID. Prime IPTV includes a TV guide (EPG). The look, search and catch-up features depend on the player you use.

Why a guide may be blank or wrong

  • The device clock or time zone is wrong. Set it to automatic.
  • The guide has not finished loading. Give the player a few minutes after the first login.
  • The player's guide cache is stale. Refresh the guide or reload the playlist in settings.
  • A channel has no matching guide data, so it shows a blank row.

How to fix it

  1. Check the time and time zone on your device.
  2. Refresh the EPG in your player's settings.
  3. Restart the app, then the device.
  4. If the problem remains, contact support with your device, player, channel and the time it happened.
